UCT Student From Constantia Can’t Understand Why People’s Parents Aren’t Paying Their Fees

“I just don’t get it, Daddy pays for everything I want!”
CAPE TOWN – As UCT and Rhodes students joined the protest over exorbitant fees today, some people just didn’t understand what the problem was. Facebook was flooded with statuses of people moaning about having to uber to campus, or “taking a beach day cos uni is totes scary today”.
One student in particular, Arabella Pugh, was astonished to learn that some students are taking out loans to pay their fees, or working several jobs to afford to attend lectures. “But I don’t get why they don’t just ask mom or dad?” she tweeted “My dad pays for everything, even after I crashed the first Audi he bought me! But some of my friends have rich moms too, this IS 2015 not the freaking dark ages! #feminismftw” Pugh continued to express bemusement at the reality that not everyone was rich, until she finally snapped.
“Okay I am over everyone making fun of me!!!!” she said, “I’m going to talk to daddy about a ptsd trip to Paris this weekend!!!!” Pugh said she would also be looking for a university which didn’t allow working class students to “mess with my vibe”.
